Columns, pillars, and backbones are the major structural elements in architecture, in human society, and symbolically in even the whole of civilization. Salt is one of the main resources of mankind.
Every salt block used in the project is taken from the town of Soledar. The dimensions of every block are defined, 200 x 200 x 400 millimeters. Nevertheless, each unit is still unique, as a unit of society with equal rights and opportunities and, at the same time, with the right to be an individual.
The Salt of the Earth Project is not only about destruction, it is about the philosophic redefining and rethinking of the imperfect structure of society, which is based on hierarchy, inequality and division; it is an attempt to understand and accept that strangers and others do not exist.
