Donbas Odyssey tries to destroy a generalized image of the Donbas and its people by taking the discussion from a political discourse and bringing it onto a personal level. Project authors conducted in-depth interviews with IDPs from Eastern Ukraine. People who used to live in the Donbas have drawn mental maps of the places they had to abandon. These maps have frozen cities and villages of eastern Ukraine in a state in which they remained in the memory of people.
This project is a certain journey to the Donbas which is made possible through the personal stories of people.
Donbas Odyssey is a part of a Mosaics of the city project, which was implemented by the Center for Contemporary Arts Foundation in partnership with Goethe-Institut Ukraine and financially supported by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany.
Donbas Odyssey was also supported by the UNHCR under the Community Based Initiatives Projects implemented by NGO Crimea SOS.
